Pneumococcal pneumonia complications

Serious and potentially fatal complications for the progress of pneumonia, sometimes with adult respiratory distress syndrome and / or septic shock. Chest X-ray examination can be found that about 25 percent of the patients had pleural effusion, and only about 1% of the Patients with empyema. Some patients have lesions adjacent site of infection (such as empyema, or purulent pericarditis). Bacteremia can cause lung infection outside the lesion, including septic arthritis, and endocarditis, meningitis and peritonitis (Ascites patients). Duplication of some patients to lung infections, performance in the course of treatment, temporary improvement occurred after the fever and lung infiltration result of the new condition deteriorated.
